I was not always into home health care. As a matter of fact there was a point when I thought, "those kind of people" were very odd. I went to the doctor regularly and took all the medicines they offered. If I felt the slightest cold coming on I pumped myself full of non-drowsy formulas for day and drowsy for night, so that I wouldn't feel too sick.
I took horrible care of my body. I suffered from asthma and allergies, and horrible headaches. Worse than that was stomach pain that started at a young age and followed me through college. At the age of 20 I was told I had poly-cystic ovarian disease and endometriosis. The doctor told me that I would have a very hard time every conceiving. I was horrified, but even that did not change my health care perspective. I just did as they said.
After I was married I had two miscarriages, which I'll talk about more in the parenting section. I was then told I had a Robersonian Translocation of my 13th and 14th chromosomes. The report was that unless we opted for Selective Invetro Fertilization our odds were less than 17% chance of ever having a child. Even this did not launch me into natural health. Although I wish it would have.
Many years passed, I went through three c-sections ( with 3 BABIES being born) lots of prescription drugs, a gall-bladder removal, and over all poor health. It was not until I spent months on end with sick children pumping them full of antibiotics that I began to think there has to be a better way.
I remember crying out to God for my children's health. I was exhausted...I was tired of sitting in doctors offices. I was tired of sick kids that were up all night. I was tired of seeing the walls inside our three bedroom apartment. I wanted my kids to be healthy, to be able to sleep through the night with out breathing treatments or trips to the bathroom for a steam treatment. I wanted to not have to check on them to make sure they were still breathing. I wanted some normalcy. I sat at my computer reading a home school blog as I had recently started home schooling my oldest daughter. By the Grace of God there was a link about asthma and allergies and one mom's success with chiropractic medicine. I had thought that chiropractors were "quacks" but at this point I was ready to try anything. So we made an appointment with a recommended chiropractor and that was the beginning of HUGE change. Now only 1 and 3/4 years later, I have completely changed my life and seen my kids flourish and change from sickly to healthy. My friends have even commented on how they used to be in the hospital all the time, and now they're not. I praise GOD for bringing me the right help to guide me. That was the beginning for us in natural health and in natural eating.
