Our good eating habits started at the same time as our natural health habits began. To know more of why we got started in naturals check out that page.
Once we purged our cupboards of all sugar, corn syrup, processed foods and food with dyes, we started wondering, "WHAT IN THE WORLD CAN WE EAT." Mind you I had already made my bread from scratch, I thought we ate pretty good, but pretty good and whole foods are two very different things. As we changed our eating habits we found our kids health change dramatically!
We went grain free thinking it would only be for 6 weeks. After the 6 weeks of no grains my son suddenly didn't have horrible eczema. He also wasn't so cranky. My husband suddenly had less headaches and my girls no longer had horrible daily stomach cramps and constipation. We tried to go back on grains and everything came back with vengeance. So we are now glutten free and rice free. My family can not tolerate glutten and my son has a horrible rice allergy, all discovered once we changed our eating habits.
I believe once your body starts recognizing what it's eating, it can begin to show you what is causing your aliments. I believe God designed it that way, it's pretty amazing really.
I must admit I was extremely bummed. I was the mom that made cookies at least once a week, usually more. I loved my sweets, my pastries and now they were all being taken from me, at least until I figured out how to make yummy treats that everyone could actually eat.
So now we know what we can't have...so what can we have. Anything we can think up. You'll have read our recipes and blogs to see what we thought up. I will say that glutten free oatmeal, organic flax meal, millet and garbonzo beans have been a wonderful blessing for us, with out those we'd never have pizza, cookies or any of the things I was so accustom to. Praise God there is a way to eat food that tastes great and is glutten, rice, sugar, and dye free.
